Sketchbook Statement
"25 + 1," alternatively named "Medusa Reimagined," is a digital artwork born from the concept of transforming the mythical figure of Medusa into a vibrant and intricate masterpiece for the 1 + 25 project. The inspiration behind this piece stemmed from a desire to reinterpret Medusa’s legendary serpentine hair with a diverse array of snake species, each bringing its unique colors and patterns to the composition.
"Mixed Media," alternatively named "Getting Ready," is a digital artwork that encapsulates the chaotic yet exhilarating process of preparing for a night out. Drawing inspiration from the everyday ritual of applying makeup and getting dressed, this piece seeks to capture the whirlwind of activity, color, and texture that defines this personal and communal experience. Drawing inspiration from the dynamic works of painter Caite Cooke, I sought to create a piece that reflects and celebrates hyper-feminine aesthetics and joy of shared moments.
"Compositing," alternatively named "Disco Cats," is a vibrant digital artwork that blends the whimsical charm of feline faces with the nostalgic allure of disco balls. This piece was inspired by a desire to create a visually striking poster that complements the turquoise, mint green, teal, and pink color palette of my room. Combining my love for cats and the dazzling effect of disco balls, this artwork celebrates the playful and eclectic.
"Photography," alternatively named "Molly and Debbie," is the result of discovering undeveloped 35mm film rolls while organizing old family belongings. Upon developing the film, it was revealed that the images depicted the precious moments between a young girl and her mother, captured shortly before the mother's untimely passing. The film's degradation due to long exposure and improper storage presented a significant challenge, making the restoration process both demanding and rewarding.
